Quaint Cards is run by Quaintscience Technologies LLP. Nobody needs an account, so we keep only what a card needs.
What we keep
- The card: who it's for, the occasion, the title, the "From" line and the date it opens.
- Each note: what you wrote, the name you signed with, the ink and the time. With it we keep a code made from your IP address and the date, to look into abuse. It can't be turned back into your IP address and it changes every day.
- Your email address, only if you ask us to email you a card's links. We use it for that email and nothing else.
- Reports: the reason you give and the card or note it's about.
- Counts of cards started, shared, signed and opened, with no personal details, and error logs for 30 days.
Your IP address is also used, briefly, to limit how often something can be done from one place.
What stays on your device
Your browser keeps the links to cards you started, the keys that let you remove your own notes, and the name you last signed with. Clearing this site's data removes them, and we can't get them back for you, so keep the manage link somewhere safe.
We set no cookies for visitors, and there are no ads or trackers.
Who sees it
- Anyone with a card's sign link sees the card, and the other notes if the person who started it allows that.
- Anyone with the link for the recipient sees every note once the card opens.
- The person who started the card sees every note and can remove any of them.
- We can see everything. We look only to keep the service running or to deal with a report.
Write only what you'd be happy for these people to read.
Who handles it for us
- Cloudflare hosts Quaint Cards, stores the data (mainly in the Asia-Pacific region), keeps request logs for a few days, and checks that you're a person (Turnstile).
- Resend sends the emails you ask for.
We don't sell or rent any of it.
How long it stays
A card, its notes, its reports and any email address saved with it are deleted a year after the card was started, or as soon as the person who started it deletes it. You can remove your own note from the device you wrote it on.
Your rights
To see, correct or erase what we hold about you, write to info@quaintscience.com, and include the card's link if you have it. We act as the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 requires. Quaint Cards is for people 18 and over, or younger with a parent's go-ahead.
Changes
If this changes, we'll post the new version here with a new date.
